Private equity firm launches groundbreaking initiative to support and elevate MMA fighters
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Broadstreet Global Fund, has launched an initiative to transform combat sports, led by renowned mixed martial arts (MMA) coach Eric “Captain America” Albarracin. A trainer of 17 UFC and Bellator world champions, decorated U.S. Army captain and multiple-time combat sports champion, Albarracin will oversee the firm’s program providing financial backing and brand recognition to MMA fighters.
“Broadstreet Global is one of the first private equity firms that wants to share brand recognition with some of the top athletes in the world,” said Albarracin. “This level of support is crucial for fighters on their way up.”
Directed by Broadstreet Global Fund’s co-founder Joseph Baldassarra and colleague Ray Gould, this venture aims to address the long-standing issues of financial instability and limited career longevity that many fighters face. The initiative goes beyond traditional sponsorship models, offering a holistic approach to athlete development and financial empowerment.
“We’re not just investing in athletes; we’re investing in the future of combat sports,” said Baldassarra. “Our goal is to create a sustainable ecosystem where fighters can focus on their craft without the constant worry of financial insecurity.”
Key features of the initiative include:
- Financial Support: Providing fighters with the necessary funds to cover training expenses, living costs and career development.
- Brand Recognition Sharing: A unique approach that allows athletes to benefit from Broadstreet Global’s established brand and network.
- Global Training Hub: Establishment of a diverse training environment bringing together talent from countries including Brazil, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Spain and Colombia.
- Financial Education: Empowering athletes with the knowledge to manage their finances effectively and build sustainable careers.
The program has already attracted diverse talent, including Brazil’s Leandro Higo, Colombia’s Jhon Rodriquez Tacha, Mongolia’s Temuujin Mendbileg and legendary fighter Patricky Pitbull.
As Broadstreet Global continues to expand its portfolio, which already includes more than 70 projects across real estate, infrastructure and specialty finance, this venture into combat sports represents a new direction for private equity involvement in athletics.
